Robert Roach comes from a future where humans have died off and roaches have evolved into a hyperintelligent, dominant species on earth. For this character, I wanted to focus both on sculpting him to look lifelike (which involved a lot of research and concept art featuring cockroaches) and engineering him to be mobile. Robert is a handmade ball-jointed doll with 19 handcrafted joints. He can hold a large variety of poses which help to display emotion using his body language when I photograph him.
